The Hive The Hive is a non-monetary system of social recognition that changes how you motivate and retain employees, how your company celebrates success, and how you reinforce your corporate culture and values. Companies utilizing The Hive benefit from: Increased Retention and Discretionary Effort • Public validation by your peers makes you feel valued. If you believe that your efforts matter, then you will be less likely to leave and more likely to investgreater effort into your job each day. Help Managers be Better Managers • Peer-to-Peer recognition removes the bottleneck often experienced when already busy Managers are the required starting point for recognition. Culture Reinforcement • The Hive serves as a repository of stories that have been validated by other employees. The act of publicly celebrating these stories encourages more of these repeatable behaviours which ultimately changes your company’s culture.

Going Beyond Buzz: Building Real Social Capital As a collaborative environment The Hive promotes social capital, meaning praise and acknowledgment are not confined to top-down communications within corporate and departmental boundaries. Members connect with others through the Gallery, a collective space for viewing and contributing to all public BeeLines.As members contribute comments to the BeeLinesof others,they construct storylines around specific contributions and milestones, building deeper connections to the mission and purpose of the organization.

  4. The Hive On Your Intranet A single script adds The Hive to your existing intranet. All text and images are customizable.

  5. Reinforce Values with Every BeeLine When sending a BeeLine, you associate your recognition message with one of your company’s values. This is a great way to link desired behaviors with corporate values and to share these stories in a format that other employees can learn from.

BeeLine Creation Send BeeLines from yourself or a group to an individual or a team. • Integration with your HR database enables: • The ability to look up people using partial information. • Managers automatically receive recognitionactivity for all of their direct reports. • Integration Microsoft SharePoint is seamless with Web Parts Beelines can be sent privately or made public. Receiving a BeeLine is a great way to start the day. It is a concrete expression from your peers that the work you do is appreciated. This appreciation leads to less turnover and greater discretionary effort.

The Gallery - Collaboration • Search and browse The Gallery by department, email, corporate valueor keyword to: • Garner a greater sense of your place in a large organization • Find people with peer-reviewed skills for collaboration Public BeeLines in The Gallery can be seen and commented on by all. This forms a permanent repository of stories that celebrate success in your organization. Every day, by publicly acknowledging the types of behaviour you wish to encourage at your company, you will help shape its culture. When you “like”, “comment”, or “share” a BeeLine, The Hive places these people in your network for greater visibility.

  8. The Gallery – Personal Legacy Breadcrumb navigation makes it easy to drill down through different geographic or hierarchical levels of your organization. Mouseover names and see a quick summary of their awards and achievements. Everyone has a “My Hive” page, visible to all employees, that summarizes their recognition activity. Your personal legacy serves as a visible reminder of the total contribution you have made to your organization over time.

  9. My Hive - Awards Each tab has a complete history of a the BeeLines a person has sent or received as well as the Awards and Achievements that they have earned. Awards are graphical badges that can be customized for your organization. For example, Sales Leader and Positive Power are pictured on this page. The Hive can be setup so that Awards can only be given by specified people within your organization. This makes their receipt all the more significant and provides a valued substitute to cash based awards.

  10. My Hive - Achievements Achievements are custom goals that encourage and sustain program involvement by introducing elements of ‘gamification’. Making progress toward achievable goals, enhances an employee’s sense of self, happiness, and ultimately their loyalty and productivity. This example of a “Participator” Achievement is designed to introduce employees to some of the key features of The Hive and to encourage participation. By showing the number of peers who have completed this achievement, participants learn that they are part of an engaged group of co-workers.

  11. Moderation Choose to have a moderator preview BeeLines before appearing in The Gallery or empower your community to self-police using The Hive’s configurable censoring options.

  12. Deeper Integration with Your Intranet People who are regularly recognized by their peers receive a visible badge next to their name. This integration is automatic with TemboSocial’sComment Engine but can occur anywhere in your intranet using TemboSocial’sWeb Services. The Hive can seamlessly integrate with your intranet in many ways. A few of these ideas are shown in the next slides.

  13. Peer Recognition on Your Profile Page Send BeeLines from everyone’s profile. Widgets show all BeeLines sent and received by Jennifer Brown. View More takes you to the gallery where you can browse more BeeLines or perform your own search.

  14. Help Managers be Better Managers - 1 Managers visiting their own profile see an extra, Morning Huddle tab. The Morning Huddle is a way to share stories from The Hive with managers. Managers who are looking for ideas for their team meetings may be inspired by these ideas or encouraged to search out more by browsing or searching the gallery.

  15. Help Managers be Better Managers - 2 Managers can see the Beelines sent and received by their direct reports over a user-defined timeframe right from their profile page.

  16. Department Widgets Widgets that show a real-time feed of all BeeLines received by departments can be placed anywhere on your intranet.

  17. Reporting TemboSocialhas built in reports to help you understand how The Hive is being used.

  18. Reporting Hive reports reveal who the Go-To People are in your organization as well as those with managerial qualities. In addition, TemboSocialadds customized reports to answer questions unique to your organization.

  19. Discover the Informal Networks within your Organization Visualize the informal networks that exist within your organization. Discover the connectors who make your company tick.
