  1. Stay Open & Obedient December 29, 2013 Bible Passages: John 15:1-25 Explore the Bible KJV: Lifeway Bible Studies Winter 2013-2014

  2. HOW HAVE I GROWN IN MY FAITH FROM A YEAR AGO? FROM FIVE YEARS AGO? Biblical Truth: Only by staying vitally open and obedient to Jesus can believers keep producing the spiritual fruit God expects. Life Goal: To help you stay vitally open and obedient to Jesus. Key Doctrine: FAITH’S “FRUIT” There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. Sanctification is the experience by which the believer is enabled to progress toward moral and spiritual maturity through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him BACKGROUND PASSAGE OVERVIEW Abiding in Christ………………….…………………….………………..John 15:1-8 Showing Christlike Love……………………………….……………….John 15:9-17 Expecting Persecutions…………………………………………………John 15:18-25

  3. QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER How do you know that you are vitally connected to Jesus by faith? What is one way you have experienced God’s “pruning” in your life? Would you say the strength of your prayer life today is weak, OK, or powerful? Why? How have you been reminded recently of Jesus’ love for you? How have you shown Christlike love to others? How can you show active, sacrificial love today to a family member? To a member of your Bible study group? Faith in Action Consider ways your Bible study group can serve homebound adults in your community in Christ’s name. Providing transportation, cleaning yards or houses, as well as visiting and writing notes of encouragement are all practical ways to demonstrate Christlike love.
