  28. travel:the general term, go from place to place e.g. She’s traveling in Europe this year. He’s going to travel across the city. journey:suggests a long and tiring trip for a definite purpose e.g. He decided to make his journey to Mexico by car. It will be a hard journey!

  29. trip:used with regard to journey and voyage, suggesting a run between two places, but not suggesting the length, purpose, manner or means of travel e.g. It’s only a half-hour’s trip from here to the bank. He’s on a business trip to Europe.

  30. excursion:a trip, esp. a short one taken for interest or pleasure, often by a number of people together e.g. Our class went on an excursion to the mountains last weekend. When will our class go on an excursion to the river Chanhe?

  31. tour:a short trip, walk around, usually arranged by a travel agency e.g. Many Americans tour by car every summer. Our class made a tour of Famen Temple. visit:go to see e.g. I’ll visit my aunt next week. The inspector visits the factory once week.

  32. voyage:a long trip by water e.g. I think a voyage to the islands will be restful. He goes on a voyage twice a year.
