Show your work! 4. How long would it take you to skip 30 meters based on your speed for the 5-meter trial? Are your results accurate? (For questions 3 and 4) Why or why not? 6. Were you moving with constant speed for any of the tasks? How do you know? Modified from T. Trimpe 2001 Speed Challenge Lab Page 1 Purpose: To calculate your speed as you hop and walk on our “race track”. Procedures: • Gather materials • Choose one person to go first. Two others will be the “timers” and 1 person will record the data. • Your personal data should be recorded for the first 3 tasks. • As you walk down the track, one partner will stop the timer as you pass the halfway mark (5 m). The other partner will stop the timer at the finish line (10 m). • Repeat these tasks for each person in the group. • At the end of the lab, There will be a race to find the fastest student in class. Record this data for the “Running” task. • Calculate speed (distance ÷ time). Don’t forget Units!! • Answer the lab questions.
