Women workers in India People living with HIV/AIDS in Malawi and Tanzania Women asserting their political rights in Zambia Disabled women in Honduras and El Salvador Dalits fighting discrimination in Bangladesh Communities holding their local governments accountable in the Philippines Women councillors resisting political violence in Bolivia. OWA’s work with partners

One World Action In the UK and in Europe: We campaign against policies that make and keep people poor We conduct research and link up with other organisations who work on the issues we care about We lobby the British Government and the EU to advocate for social inclusion, citizen’s participation and women’s rights

    5. The Project To put gender and women’s rights issues on the trade liberalisation agenda, especially Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) One World Action and the Commonwealth Secretariat, funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID)

    6. Project Activities Analysis of Interim EPAs in three regions: SADC, ECA and CARIFORUM Analysis of the implications of the implementation of trade liberalisation in one country in each region: Mozambique, Jamaica and Tanzania Three regional workshops A workshop at EU level (in Brussels) Advocacy in regions and in Europe

EAC Workshop Share and discuss the Tanzania research and analysis of the EPA Share advocacy and influencing experience, strategies and skills Explore strategies for integrating gender and women’s rights analysis into trade policy-making and implementation and monitoring of the EPA, including identifying opportunities, allies, partners and support

    8. Participants We have invited representatives from government, academia and civil society from : Uganda Tanzania Rwanda Kenya Malawi Zambia Zimbabwe Ghana We have also invited representatives of the European Commission and DFID

    9. Outcomes We hope the two days will provide all participants with information, ideas and strategies to: engage actively in trade debates monitor the implementation of trade liberalisation from gender and women’s rights perspectives.
