  2. Prayagraj, for long known as Allahabad, is a smart city to build. It has been ranked among the fastest growing cities in the world and is also the 7th most populous city in Uttar Pradesh. Considered to be one of the most sacred cities, it is situated at the confluence - Sangam - of the three rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the legendary Saraswati. Sangam gets the name of the city - Prayag - which means a place of offering. Prayagraj is located in the southern part of Uttar Pradesh. The city is known for its colleges, research institutes and central and state government offices.

  3. Infrastructure It is one of the best cities in this part of the country in terms of connectivity and infrastructure. Apart from its own airport, Varanasi, Lucknow and Kanpur also have airports - which are well connected by road with the city of Prayagraj.

  4. Allahabad railway junction is one of the major railway junctions in North India. Headquarters of North Central Railway Zone is located here. National Highway-2 passes through the city. The new bridge over the Yamuna is India's longest cable-stay bridge and connects the city to the suburbs of Naini across the river. National Waterway-1 connects Allahabad to Haldia in West Bengal. A metro rail project is also being planned for the city. As part of the Smart City initiative, a lot of work is being done to improve transport facilities.

  5. Lifestyle Prayagraj boasts of a rich literary and artistic heritage. Tourists from all over the world visit the city to visit historical, cultural and religious sites. Alfred Park, Victoria and Thornhill Mayen Monuments, Minto Park, Allahabad Fort, Ashoka Pillar and Khusro Bagh are among the important historical sites of the city.

  6. Nevertheless, the famous Kumbh Mela is the largest congregation in the world and is held in the holy city. Triveni Sangam and All St Cathedral are other scenic spots. Many cultural attractions include Allahabad Museum, Jawahar Planetarium, Allahabad University (the oldest university in the state) and Prayag Sangeet Samiti. There are also many sports complexes used by amateur and professional athletes.
