Professional Development • The Department of Talent Management and Development • (TMD) is currently offering the following learning opportunities: • Teams with Meaning Excel • This session is designed to help leaders become successful at helping their employees find meaning at work. • Managing Multiple Priorities • This program will provide simple techniques to help you more effectively juggle competing demands, create more time for your truly important responsibilities, and decrease the stress, frustration, and guilt often associated with today's workplace.

Professional Development • Conducting Successful Meetings • Find out what makes a meeting successful and get useful tips on conducting productive, efficient and effective meetings. • Managing Conflict Between Others • Conflict resolution is rarely self-healing. Whether you are the leader, manager or even a concerned co-worker, explore specific strategies and techniques to help resolve conflict. • And others!

Have you signed up for Panther Alerts? • Panther Alerts is a system that allows the university to send timely text messages in the event of an emergency. • The Division of Human Resources is asking for your assistance in obtaining or updating emergency contact information for your department. • You will be provided a list of individuals in your department and their respective emergency contact information. • Lists with cell phone numbers are due back as soon as possible within the next two months. • Please help the university achieve its goal to keep everyone informed during an emergency.   10. ALA End Dates

  11. Several Finance Managers are currently in the process of testing the Salary Encumbrance System that forecasts salaries and benefits through a specific end date. • One of those end dates is the ALA End Date. • Expired ALA End Dates lead to: • Payroll Transfers • Incorrect Salary and Benefits encumbrances • The Division of Human Resources will send out an ALA expiration report today with information on an open lab to help clean up the end dates before encumbrances go live. Additional information and training on encumbrances is forthcoming. ALA End Dates

Below is an encumbrance example illustrating the impact of an expired ALA End Date: • Project IDEncumbrance Amount • 340000501 $43,000/26.1x50%x20 = $16,475.10 • 800000003 $0 • * Assuming 20 pay periods remain, this faculty’s salary underencumbered because he will actually receive $32,950.19 in the future (doublethe encumbrance amount).
