Season Calendar • New meets this year: extended season, increased competition for our students • Some meets will be split to tailor meets to competitive levels of students • Extended opportunities of national recognition for our students • NFL Regional Meet ( National Meet June 15-20, Overland Park, KS)

Transportation Changes • Support PLHS Speech through transportation changes! • In the past students were able to leave meets early with parent permission (this will continue) • With a large team and long meets, bussing is a huge expense for the team • Based on other team models, local meets will not have team bussing • Prior Lake, Shakopee, Lakeville South, Lakeville North • Please submit Liability Waiver

  7. MSHSL Code of Conduct Please Submit your code of conduct forms to Mr. Ingles.

  8. Lettering Criteria • Students may earn a letter in Speech if they have met the following criteria • Met required weekly practice ( approximately 30 minutes with coach a week) • Average of a 3 ranking at meets • Must miss no more than 2 excused meets for letter consideration. No unexcused absences.

  9. Expectations of Parents • Transportation • Support the Saturday tournament schedule and plan your events ahead with it in mind • Be positive- encourage good sportsmanship • Support through meet attendance and banquet • Support the team through involvement in PAA, invitational tournament, fundraising

  10. Costs and Expenses • Activity fee: $110, pay online • NFL fee- 1 time payment of $15 • Info Boards, scripts • Team “uniform”: suits • Money for food and beverages at meets • Banquet • National NFL meet opportunity : (June 15-20 Overland Park, KS) (We will fundraise and request support as part of a shared expense if this comes up this year)

Patrons of the Arts and Activities(PAA) • Activities booster club • Members help to coordinate volunteers for our invitational meet and our banquet • Hold fundraisers throughout the year that benefit our activities and students • Assist in promoting and supporting arts and activities • See the website for contact information: Jodi Hall is the Speech Representative

  12. Fundraising • Our invitational tournament is our primary fundraiser • Magazine subscription request form fundraiser • Names of family and friends will be sent a 1-time request • Any renewal or subscription will benefit PLHS Speech • Last Year: Only 20 returned, and we made over $600

  13. What to bring to meets • Script/books • Water, pen, speech notebook • Food/beverage and/or money • Team uniform (harder to change at meet)
