  2. Meaning JIT means raw material moves to a production operation, is processed immediately, and moves immediately to the next operation. • Production of goods to Meet the customer demand exactly • Minimizing Waste

  3. Elements of JIT • Continuous improvement • Eliminating Waste • Good housekeeping • Set-up time reduction • Levelled / mixed production • Kanbans • Jidoka (Autonomation) • Andon (trouble lights)

  4. Benefits of JIT • Elimination of all Wastes • Pulled System through Plant • Helped in Attacking Wastes • Problems and Bottlenecks were Exposed • Helped them in achieving Streamlined Production • Lot Size Reduction • Zero Defects

  5. Limitations of JIT • Cost-Benefit analysis Although the JIT appears to hold many advantages for businesses But If the costs of implementing are to outweigh the benefits for a particular organization then it is unsuitable to proceed with implementing the JIT. • It also requires mindset of the suppliers and the employees to be changed.

  6. Conclusion The Claire’s should focus on managing their inventory well and in a more organized and systematic manner. The management should realize the wastage produced due to inappropriate inventory holding which ultimately leads to increased cost thus less profits. Thus it should implement JIT to reduce the waste and improve the profits.
