Summary • This presentation examines the business results of similar establishments north-of-forty (NoFor) and south-of-forty (SoFor) before and after the construction of the median between I-40 and Allegacy Way in 2012. • Charts were obtained from ReferenceUSA.com, available through the Forsyth County Public Library, and are based on both self-reported and inferred data. ReferencyUSA asserts that reported data is 98% accurate and inferred volume and revenue data is 92% accurate with an R2 value >.7. • The data does not support claims of widespread adverse business impact resulting from median construction. If anything, the median north-of-forty may have been marginally beneficial to business in that area. • It is not clear whether the median was a contributing factor in the closure of Milner Brothers in 2017 or Fast Track in 2018, but it is generally accepted that medians can be problematic for fast food, fuel, and auto-repair establishments.
