  1. EBSCOHost library database http://www.ncmissouri.edu/library/

  2. EBSCOhost is a very general database and contains reputable information on numerous topics. It is a great place to start your research searching. Within EBSCOhost there are many different databases included. I believe the best place to start is to search through all of them at the beginning and then you can start to narrow down your search. So, click on EBSCOhost databases (A – Z list).

  3. Check the box Select/deselect all. Then click on Continue. We are now telling EBSCO that we want to search through all of their databases.

  4. Now we can start our search. Type in search words to begin your research. If you want to use a search term, like “social media” be sure to include quotation marks so EBSCO knows that you want to keep those 2 words together when conducting the research and within your results.

  5. Using Boolean searching, the word AND can limit your search results because we are telling EBSCO we want to include, for example, both words dogs AND cats in our results. If we choose OR we are expanding our search by including either dogs or cats in our search. By choosing NOT we are limiting our search by telling EBSCO dogs not puppies, for example.

  6. I am going to choose the title “For changing the way we look at wearables.”

  7. This page tells us the source of the article, subject terms, author and so much more! Now I want to read the article so I am going to click on the PDF full test so I can view the article in its original format.

  8. Uses the tools on the right to add to a folder, print the article to read later, email a copy to yourself or your instructor, and many more options. Look at the cite icon. This allows you access to a citation for this article.

  9. Remember to choose the correct citation style for your class. Speech uses APA, English MLA, and History Chicago/Turabian. Also, check the citations over to correct those small errors with spacing and punctuation.

  10. Questions? Call, text, email or Ask a Librarian…we are here when you need us! Geyer Hall First and Second Floor
