What have we committed to do? • Promote the development of a standard methodology framework for assessing the carbon footprint of milk and dairy products based on robust science; • Promote adoption of world’s best practices within the global dairy sector and actions that: • Seek to advance the establishment of tools to facilitate measurement and monitoring of emissions both on-farm and in dairy manufacturing. • Promote improved farmer understanding of agricultural emissions and opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on farm. • Support sharing information and aligning research efforts to develop cost effective mitigation technologies for both on farm and manufacturing application.

  7. How do we manage the concept? • Emerged out of an informal international group who used conference calls to discuss dairy issues. • Now... • Two groups – Signatories Group - Operational Group • Strength is in its informality and underlying commitment

  8. What do we have? A forum for activity in more areas in the future regardless of affiliation and location....Trust! Common understanding leading to consistency in the message! A license to lift the profile of dairy globally Engagement with Key organisations; IDF, FAO, WBSD, UNEP, Gov’ts, NGO’s, The Carbon Trust – share and align A need for continued sharing and collaborative efforts Success = unity
