  1. New Life in Christ – Blame Culture

  2. A New Creation “Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence.” 2Corinthians 5:17 (GWT) • Old way has disappeared – it’s dead • Old way has been superseded

  3. What God says “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west,    so far has He removed our transgressions from us” Psalm 103:11-12 (TNIV)

  4. What God says “‘I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people...they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest’, declares the LORD. ‘For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more’” Jeremiah 31:33b-34 (NIVUK)

  5. What God says “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ” 2Corinthians 1:20(TNIV)

  6. Eternal Life defined “Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” John 17:3 (NIVUK)

  7. Eternal Life defined “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16 (NIVUK) “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them” John 3:36 (TNIV)

  8. Eternal Life defined “I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life” John 5:24 (NIVUK) “For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day” John 6:40 (NIVUK)

  9. Eternal Life defined “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no-one can snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; no-one can snatch them out of My Father's hand” John 10:28-29 (NIVUK)

  10. What this means • I have been given eternal life through faith • I will not perish • I have crossed over from death to life • I will be raised up at the last day • I can’t be snatched out of Jesus’ or God’s hand • No getting lost in the cracks • No small print • No caveats

  11. Questions • Can I lose my salvation? • John 3:16 & Acts 16:31– involves faith • Romans 10:10 – requires confession • 2Corinthians 5:17 – new creation (can’t go back) • 1Peter 1:18-19 – we’re redeemed (purchased) • Romans 5:1 – justified (declared righteous) • Romans 8:39 – nothing can separate us • Hebrews 2:10 – the ultimate end game: “to bring many sons and daughters to glory” • 1Peter 1:3-5 – it’s being kept for us

  12. It’s all grace “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast” Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIVUK) To think we can lose our salvation which doesn’t depend on us means we’re making our salvation CONDITIONAL

  13. Questions • I’m not good enough, am I? • Romans 5:1 – we’re justified when we believe: past tense • Jude 24 –He is able to keep us from falling and present us without fault • 1John 2:1 – we have an advocate when we sin

  14. 3 reasons • Never accepted Jesus as our Saviour • Under attack from Satan • Deception through misinformation • Doubt through uncertainty • Distortion of the truth through misrepresentation • We’re acting in disobedience • A self inflicted wound

  15. Moving Onwards • Questions to consider • Have I really accepted Jesus as my Saviour? • Where is my security – in God or in what I can do? • In what areas of my life am I deliberately not obeying God?
