  4. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Step 1:Go to www.floridabarexam.org Print the checklist. Check each item when completed to assure that your Registrant Bar Application includes all necessary supplemental documents and information Step 2: Assemble the following information before you begin to complete your application: Residence information, including dates and complete addresses for the past 3 years and dates and city/state since your 16th birthday Names and addresses of all undergraduate and graduate schools you attended and dates of attendance Names of all law schools attended and dates of attendance

  5. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Employment information for the last 10 years or since your 16th birthday, whichever is shorter. Provide employers' names, addresses, dates employed, position, type of business, supervisor and reason for leaving. Include self-employment or association with any occupation, business, enterprise or profession, either part-time or full-time. Include employment as a law clerk; include positions in clinics, internships, externships, or other similar non-paid positions. Financial information about delinquent credit, defaulted credit, unfiled tax returns, checks returned for insufficient funds and delinquent student loans

Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Information about all arrests, charges or accusations (including traffic violations) reporting dates, law enforcement agency, explanation of event and final disposition. If your arrest records are sealed, you must petition the appropriate court to unseal those records. Information about all bar admission or registration applications filed in Florida or any other jurisdiction

Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Transcripts from all undergraduate schools from which you received an undergraduate degree, transcripts from all law schools attended (except your current law school, if you are still attending), even if the credit was transferred to another school or is reflected on another school's transcript, and transcripts from any post-secondary schools attended subsequent to law school. Request all transcripts to be sent from each educational institution attended directly to the Board's office and provide a copy of each request with your application. Fingerprints scanned for electronic submission to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and to the FBI by Integrated Biometric Technology (IBT). A copy of your DD-214 (military service), reflecting your character of service and re-entry code

Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam For lawsuits where you are personally named a defendant or counter-defendant, an exact and complete copy of the complaint or other initial pleading, answer, counterclaim, if any, and the disposition of each action, or a letter from the court verifying that the documents are not available Copies of bar applications or registrations filed in any other jurisdiction (and certificate of Good Standing from each jurisdiction in which you have been admitted)

Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Step 3: Enter your information into the on-line registration form Create an account on-line Select a user name and Personal Identification Number (PIN). The user name you select must be in the form of an e-mail address. If you misplace this information, you will have to start over with a new account. The board will not provide your user name and PIN to anyone (including you).

  10. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Once you have created your account, you must complete the application within six (6) months. If you are unable to complete the online application within six months from the date you create your account, your account and all of the information you have entered will be deleted; you will have to start over by creating a new account. Log on to access the Main Menu of the Bar Application. Answer the items in order. You may start and stop completion of the online Bar Application as necessary. To securely exit the program, return to the Main Menu, Log out and close your browser. When returning to the program, access the Bar Application's Main Menu from the "Resume Bar Application" link found on the left side of the Home page.

  11. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Complete each item of the application until you have completed and saved each item as finished. If you created your account before 2PM, 10/27/2009, then the Main Menu displays two columns, Underway and Remaining. If you created your account after 2PM, 10/27/2009, then three columns of items are displayed, Not Started, Saved As Draft, and Saved As Finished. When all items are saved as finished on the Main Menu page, you will be offered instructions for printing a "Draft Version" of your Bar Application. Follow the on-screen instructions. When ready to proceed, click the "Draft Version" button. This will accumulate your individual item responses into a printer-friendly document and display it on your screen. Print the draft.

  12. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Read and carefully review each item of the "Draft Version" of your application to assure that each item prints completely and correctly. Make individual item revisions or additions by clicking that item in the "Underway" column, reentering or correcting data and saving your work. You may print the draft as many times as necessary. When you are certain that your application is complete and accurate, return to the Main Menu page and follow the on-screen directions following the "Draft Version" button. Do not press the "Final Version" button without printing a draft and making corrections. You will not be able to make changes or additions to your Bar Application after clicking the "Final Version" button.

  13. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam When ready to proceed, click the "Final Version" button and your responses will be accumulated in a finalized printer-friendly document and displayed on your screen. Print two (2) copies of the "Final Version" of your Bar Application. You will need one copy to submit to the Board and one copy for your records. Do not delay printing. The "Final Version" of your Bar Application will be removed from the Web Server 24 hours after creating the Final Version. If you do not print the "Final Version" during this 24-hour interval, you will have to create another account and re-enter all item data. The "Draft Version" of your Bar Application will not be accepted.

  14. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Complete the handwriting sample in Section C at the end of your printed copy of the online Bar Application. As you execute this sample, carefully read the text that you are writing regarding your obligation to keep the application current and complete after filing. Section D If you are registering as a first-year student, do not complete Section D of the Bar Application. If you are registering as a third-year student, complete Section D of the Bar Application, including the handwriting sample in Section D. Print and complete all supplemental forms (as set forth in Step 4 below).

  15. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Have all documents (Bar Application, Authorization and Release, Financial Affidavit, etc.) notarized. The notary should require identification and place you under oath prior to requiring you to sign each document. Confirm that the notarization is properly executed (including that the notary properly indicates how you were identified, signs, dates, and affixes his or her stamp). Incorrect notarization will cause your application to be returned and delay initiation of the background investigation.

  16. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Step 4: Pack and mail your application Pack the following documents: Registrant Bar Application, completed and properly notarized. Be sure to keep a copy for your records. Authorization and Release Three (3) originals, completed and properly notarized Student Registration or Application Fee Compute the fee according to the formula discussed above Clip the check to the front page of the Registrant Bar Application.

  17. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Fingerprints Electronic fingerprinting, completed through IBT as discussed above. Confirmation of your compliance with this step must be received by the board before processing of your application can begin.

  18. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam 2” X 2” passport photo, if you are registering in your third year. Proof of citizenship If you are a citizen of the United States, submit with your Bar Application a certified copy of your birth certificate, or provide a photocopy of your certificate of naturalization, or certificate of citizenship for submission to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services for verification of authenticity. If you are not a citizen of the United States, provide a photocopy of the immigration document that documents your status for submission to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services for verification of authenticity.

  19. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Copies of letters of request for undergraduate, law school, and post law school transcripts Documentation of military service (DD-214, Report of Separation, or equivalent) Copies of litigation documents A copy of the judge's signed order to unseal arrest records Copies of letters to doctors (as required by items 25 and 26) Copies of bar applications from other jurisdictions Financial Affidavit This form should be completed if required by a response to an item on the Bar Application Address your package to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners.

  20. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Step 5: Report Changes to the Registrant Bar Application Your Registrant Bar Application is a continuing application and you have an obligation to keep the responses to all items current and complete by the filing of timely amendments. Amendment forms are available to update your Registrant Bar Application by clicking the link "Supporting Forms" on the Home page.

  21. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Step 6: File a Conversion Application The completion of this application will take only 15 minutes if you first gather the following information: Applicant file number Law school name and date of graduation (month and year). If admitted in another jurisdiction, the date (month and year) first admitted. Fingerprints (unless previously submitted as a student registrant or CLI registrant)

  22. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Complete form on line When you have responded to all items on line, click the button, "Finalize My Application." The program will accumulate your responses in a document and display it on the screen. Print form Print 2 copies of your Re-Examination/Conversion Application. Mail 1 to the Board and keep 1 copy for your records. Once you close your browser, the Re-Examination/Conversion Application will no longer be available to print. If you fail to print the application, you will have to re-enter all data from the beginning.

  23. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Complete the handwriting sample on the last page of the application. Notarization Have the Re-Examination/Conversion Application notarized. The notary should require identification and place you under oath prior to requiring you to sign the document.

  24. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam Mail the following items: Re-Examination/Conversion Application Fingerprints (unless previously submitted as a student registrant or CLI registrant) 2" x 2" passport photograph Write your name on the back and staple it to the Re-Examination/Conversion Application in the space provided. If previously filed, do not resubmit. Attach your check or certified money order made payable to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners for the total amount displayed in the "Enclosure section" of the printed Re-Examination/Conversion Application.

  25. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam If applicable, attach your Test Accommodations petition, Notice of Medical Alert, and any other required supporting documents. Unless you have already done so, apply for the MPRE or request transfer of any previously obtained scores. Address your package to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners.

  26. Checklist for Registering for the Florida Bar Exam A ticket of admission will be issued upon receipt of a properly completed, notarized Re-Examination/Conversion Application with all required supplemental documents and fee(s) if postmarked on or before the timely filing deadline. Re-Examination/Conversion Applications are accepted after the deadline, but late filing fees (escalating until the application and all supplemental documents are received) will be required.
