  2. Sri Lanka was formerly known as Ceylon is an island in South Asia. Sri Lanka has a diverse culture and is known for its spirituality. Almost 70% of the population are Buddhists. There are many beautiful stupas and temples adorning the country, magnificent beaches, jungle-set palaces and tea plantations. It is an amazing location to explore with your friends and loved ones.

  6. Cuisine The typical Sri Lankan dish involves steamed or boiled rice served with curry of vegetable, lentil, chicken, beef, mutton or fish. Sri Lanka's staple food includes variety of rice preparations like hoopers, string hoopers, pittu. These are usually served with pickles, chutneys, sambols or curries.

  7. Cuisine Sambol is a dish prepared using raw ingrdients like coconut, shallot, dry red chillies, lime, pepper, garlic and tomato. This is normally eaten with rice, hoopers or pittu. Being an island, fish curry is one of the most important dish in Sri Lanka. The curry is typically prepared with curry leaves, turmeric, different spices and dried goraka which gives it a sour flavour.

The city was built during 1153 -86 AD by skilled architects and technicians from India. There are many stupas and architectures built in those days that still exists. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village. The orphanage is home to world's largest herd of captive Elephants. The place is open to tourists and the income from the tourists is used for the maintenance of the elephants.
