  1. Give Your Staff Proper Training to Protect Against Emergencies In the UK, there was a legal act passed that requires each business to have an individual or individuals present that have been properly trained in fire safety. Though most companies have extinguishers in place, which can greatly help in the case of an emergency, they are only as effective as the person who is using them. If your staff is not properly educated on how to act in the case of an emergency, it can be detrimental to your business, faculty, and customers. Having proper education can help ease faculty mind and be a great line of defense should an incident arise. There are many reasons why you should train your staff when it comes to protecting your business against fires. As mentioned, it is legally your duty as a business owner to do so based on the Regulatory Reform Order 2005. Overall, this requires that adequate information, instruction, and training is provided for staff and persons nominated with safety responsibilities such as a warden. Of course, meeting these requirements is something you will want to do to help ensure you have no legal issues later on.

  2. Perhaps one of the biggest reasons that educating your staff can be extremely important is because it can prevent injuries. As a basic human instinct, we want to avoid dangerous situations, but this is the opposite of what needs done in the case of a fire. The staff members who are educated on dealing with these emergencies need to act quickly to help manage the situation correctly. This should be by helping evacuate other faculty and customers, as well as, trying to manage the fire itself. Also, when it comes time for your staff member or yourself to use an extinguisher, you need to know how to properly. If you are not educated on how these devices work, it can actually be more dangerous for them to be put into use. These courses are relatively short, usually being completed in one morning or afternoon. With these courses, you can learn how to properly use the extinguisher quickly and put out any flames managing the incident without accidental harm. Of course, a huge reason that you want to help manage the flames is to avoid any damages. In order to become a business owner, you must put a lot of time, dedication, and money into your dream. One of the most devastating things that can happen is for this dream to get crushed in the case of a fire. Even with proper insurance coverage, it can take months to get the money you are owed and rebuild your business. In many cases, businesses that go through these emergencies end up going out of business, which is something you do not want to happen to you, Of course, if the fire is large enough to be extremely dangerous, you should evacuate your team and any customers present. However, if it is smaller and more manageable, it is crucial to have a trained staff in place. Your staff can work diligently before the flames get to difficult to control to put them out and essentially save your company. This can allow you to only suffer from minor damages versus losing the company entirely.

  3. As mentioned, quick action is required to keep the flames at your company small and manageable. Most extinguishers only have seconds to put out the fire completely, which requires quick, accurate performance from your staff. When you allow your staff members to have proper training from an expert company, it helps them learn more about acting quickly. Also, most of these companies use simulators to give real life examples to the students in the course. S K Fire Protection is a UK based fire safety company with over sixty years of experience.
