  2. How did the Tsar Survive the 1905 Revolution? Watch the clip and note down the different political groups. Task: Your next job will be to research those groups and prepare to feedback why and how they opposed the Tsar.

  5. 3 options or voices to argue: • He was a useless Tsar. • He was not as bad as some people made him out to be. He was unsuited for the job • He was an intelligent man, but not prepared for the job

  6. Discussion Point • In groups (1 for each point) read and prepare several arguments for your case. • Each group will then be able to argue their point to the rest of the class • Questions will follow at the end and scores taken from the jury!

Time for Marx! • History shaped by struggles for power between social classes • Industrial growth = conflict with Bourgeoisie (capitalists) and landowners. • After defeating the landowners conflict with bourgeoisie and proletariat (industrial workers). • Workers destroy bourgeoisie in revolt and create communist society

  10. Government investment in industries from people = industrial and strong Russia • High tax on grain • 1902 Industrial slump – lost jobs • Poor harvests in 1900 and 1902 = starvation and violence. • Gov. solution = the troops!
