  2. 科学技術コミュニケーションとは 科学技術をめぐる問題について、 相互理解に到達するために、 互いに情報を創造し、分かち合う活動 専門力　＋　豊かなコミュニケーション能力が求められています。

  3. 派遣の概要 • 科学技術と社会をつなぐ仕事をしている機関において、英語で業務を体験する • 派遣先は：　英国2ヶ所、日本1ヵ所のいずれか • 時期と期間は：　夏休み、2～3週間程度（予定） • 補助は：　奨学金10-12万円程度 （2011年度英国派遣の例） • 講義コード：　99312

  5. British Council Japan • 英国の公認国際交流機関 • 語学学習、セミナー、サイエンスカフェ、アート講座　etc... • クリスマスレクチャー：　国内で英語での業務を体験 • 英国の伝統ある一般向けサイエンスショーを日本で実施 • 英国のスタッフと準備・実施（8-9月）

  6. 欧州議会インターンシップMembers of the European Parliament Special Internship for Tokyo Tech Students • ブリュッセルのＥＰ（欧州議会）の議員アシスタント • ＥＵ（欧州連合）の業務を体験 • 国際的な知見を身につけネットワーク作り • 単位あり（講義コード：65077） • 書類・面接で選考 • 時期と期間は：夏休み４週間程度 • 補助は：奨学金１0万円程度（2011年度例） • 参加費６００ポンドが必要

What does POST do? • POST is department of the U.K. Government which Support the House of Commons and House of Lords by advising with scientific matters. • Scientific subjects and reports which are relevant to the Government are rewritten to be more understandable by non scientific persons. • These publications are distributed to the lawmakers for their benefit in making decisions for the country.

My Experiences • My Experiences at POST were very rewarding. • Learned a lot about the U.K. Government, its structure and purpose. • Discovered the purpose of POST • How they publish their reports, assisted with research • What is involved in rewriting scientific papers • The research process involved for new topics • POST uses science communications as a direct means to accomplish their goals informing the Houses of Westminster about science.

  12. The London Experience • Aside from POST, London had much to offer • Museums: • Natural History Museum • The Science Museum • The British Museum • Historically significant places: • Big Ben • Westminster Abby • Buckingham Palace • And many more…

  13. Summary • The internship at POST was rewarding in several ways • I learned much about the U.K. • It’s government • Its culture • POST introduced me to a new type of work for scientists.
