  1. December 14-th, 2009 SpeculativeSpaceTravel I. PLOTNIKOV , M2 AMD

  2. Propheticevidences: K. Tsiolkovski (1857-1935) “Earth is the cradle of humanity, but one cannot live in a cradle forever” “Knowledge is strength”

  3. Fiction and imagination : • There are a lot of socalled « SpaceOpera» books, sci-fi films about spacetravels. • 2 majesticexamples:

  4. Why light speed is a problem ? Travelling with light speed (upperlimit): • Time to go to nearest star: about 3 years • Cross the Galaxy: about 30000 years. • Go to AndomedaGalaxy: 10^6 years. Relativisticeffects : Desynchronization of proper times between the traveler and Earth people.

  5. So… « No material body can go fasterthat light ». But…There are a lot of investigations triyng to bypassthislimit.

  6. Two main currents: • Space-time distortion (Star Trek current) • Space-time hole: wormholes , Einstein-Rosen bridge (Star Gatecurrent).

  7. Distortion: Alcubierremetric Moving in a space-time bubble: warp drive. But: Negativeenergydensity, and need of exoticmatter.

  8. Whormholes : • Short cuts in space-time. • Needsnegativeenery to be stable (A.Wheeler 62) • Traversable wormholemetric: • Notion of hyperspace.

  9. Two types of wormholes: 1. Intra-universe: linkbetweentwo points in ouruniverse. 2. Inter-universe: linkbetweentwo differentuniverses: Einstein-Rosen.

  10. Carsactheory of hyperspace: No-Space-No-Time Anti-Universe Anti-Universe Universe Isolation of our « space-time » bubble . Then go to no-space-no-time. Return to ourspace-time. Traveldone .

  11. Conclusion : There willbetwokind of men: - Thosewho have a spaceship, and thosewhostay on Earth.
