Dorothea Lange

1. Dorothea Lange American Photographer 1895–1965

2. After deciding not to be a teacher Dorthea Lange attended a photography course run by Clarence H. White at Columbia University, NY. She worked in a studio in San Francisco until the late 1920s where she became dissatisfied with studio work. In 1929 when the market crashed she went outside to find her subjects. As she was photographing she got involved in politics to help the subjects. One of her most famous photographs from this project is Migrant Mother, Nipomo, California. She worked until 1963. All of her photos were done in a documentary style Photos from: 1933-1952
