  2. born on January 5, 1982 in Zagreb • skiing began to train with nine years • already as the girl won every race in which she performed • from the beginning of her career with her was the father and coach Ante, mother Marica and brother Ivica • during her career had 10 operations • first time performed in Nagano (Japan) in 1998, in which in age of 16 was the youngest alpine skier

Career • three times she appeared at Olympic Winter Games and had the honor of carrying the Croatian flag • with six Olympic medals, four gold and two silver, five world title and three title winners of the World Cup  most successful alpine skier in the history of the Olympic Winter Games • absolutely the best Croatian athlete of all time

  4. at Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City in 2002 impressed the world by winning the gold medal in the combination, which was also the first Croatian medal in the history of the Olympic Winter Games, and this is added a gold in slalom and giant slalom, while in the super giant slalom wins silver medal

Janica's last Olympic performance was in Torino in 2006., when she first won the gold medal in the combination, and then the silver medal in the super giant slalom, which ends unrepeatable Olympic career with four gold and two silver medals • the Croatian Olympic Committee proclaimed Janica greatest hope of our sport in 1998, and then her almost six years in a row - 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006 - awarded the title of best Croatian sportswoman

Prizes • International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge, at a ceremony in Lausanne in 2000, handed over Janica recognition by MOO and TV stations Eurosport “Sport star“ • in 2006, in the choice of the Laureus Academy from Barcelona, was named the best female athlete of the year • for outstanding contribution to the reputation of Croatian sport in the world, Janica Kostelić received a 2001 and annual State Award for Sport "Franjo Bučar“ • she was awarded the 2002 Order of Duke Branimir with necklaceand 2006 row Croatian Wattle
