  2. Did you know….. …..reading 15 minutes a day will increase your child’s vocabulary by 1,000 words in a year!!!

  3. Did you know….. …..From birth through high school, children spend 15% of their time in school and 85% of their time outside school. Parents ARE their child’s first and most influential teachers!

  4. Did you know…. …. The average American child will have seen over 200,000acts of violence (including 16,000 murders) before the age of 18.

  5. Did you know…. …..Children who are encouraged to read by their families – READ MORE!!!!

  6. Did you know…. ….The average time that a child spends watching television per week is 19 hours/40 minutes.

  7. Did you know…. …Watching more than 10 hours of TV a week negatively affects academic achievement!!!!

  8. Did you know….. ….Reading aloud to children has been called the single most important activity for building the knowledge required for success in reading.

  9. Did you know….. …..38.5 minutes (Is the amount of time PER WEEK that parents spend in meaningful conversation with their children.)

  10. Did you know…. Good Reading skills are important because: Children that read well in the early grades are far more successful in later years.
