  1. Recent Advancements in Maritime Internet Services In recent years, rapid advancements in the field of maritime communication technology have drastically changed how ships and sailors can interact. Seafarers working on-board today will find it much easier to communicate with their counterparts on land. Gone are the days when they had to wrack their brains to come up with a way to communicate even simply. In today’s world, a good, properly maintained internet service can be the foundation rock upon which a business can prosper and grow, especially while out at sea. Let us explore some of the facts surrounding the usage of maritime internet services and how far it has helped in meeting immediate needs. Challenges of Providing Internet to Ships Maintaining contact with land-based counterparts confers a huge business advantage in the ability to react quickly to changes and make instantaneous decisions. Therefore, existing without internet connectivity on the high seas is no longer possible. However, providing internet connectivity on ships is completely different from providing it on land, the largest difference being that services have to be provided on the water, with no help from towers and cables. Fortunately, this has been made recently possible by the advent of modern technology and the use of satellites. Accordingly, a number of broadband services came together and collaborated to create maritime satellite internet to provide instantaneous connections and allow ships to maintain a dialogue with their companies at all times. New and Improved Satellite Connectivity Satellite connections are the most common and effective way of providing ships with internet access. For this, the appropriate hardware has to be first installed on the ship and then connected directly to the satellite. Of course, there are always installation and hardware charges that are to be borne by the maritime client or ship owners, so do not take your quoted price at face value. In addition, it is important to remember that the choice, size and cost of hardware will depend on factors like the size of the ship, the size of your data cap, and the bandwidth required. Wireless Devices: A Gateway to Uninterrupted Connectivity Wireless devices also becoming increasingly common in the modern world. These are provided by the common internet providers and can be connected to meet internet connectivity requirements instantly. However, these internet services can often only be used while the ship is close to the port. The Dial-up Facility Another source of maritime satellite communications can be achieved through the ?ancient? technology of dial-up. It is available on phones though there can be issues with poor signal strength and bad connections. But it can be worth a try if the clients need internet access on-board.

  2. Working on ships is a difficult job, only made worse because employees had to work for days without a single word from the outside world. These technologies undoubtedly make it easier for seafarers to maintain constant contact at all times and ease the strain of their livelihood.
