  3. INTRODUCTION Social media platforms are growing at an alarming rate. The existing user base is growing exponentially to such an extent that businesses now look at social media as an important channel to grow and create a brand for themselves. From launching brand campaigns, promoting products through influencer marketing or creating several challenges to spread brand awareness, everything is done on social media. However not every business grows or achieves success. In order to leverage the power of social media effectively, it is important to get your strategies right. 45% of the population use Social Media (3.5 Billion).

  4. NOT ANALYZING DATA Ignoring useful data is a common mistake people tend to make. In order to reap the benefits of social media it’s important to first research about what you plan to do. No strategy is effective on social media without proper planning and analysis. You could be creating content for people between the age of 30-40 but your following includes people within the age group 18-25. It’s important to know your audience, do proper analysis and then create content or strategies around it. IRRELEVANT CONTENT While it’s not always important to post content about your product or business, you shouldn’t go completely off topic. Post content that either relates to your product or is relevant to your following. For example, if followers are consuming your content on technology based tutorials they wouldn’t care much to know what your latest cooking recipe is.

  5. BEING IMPERSONAL Too much use of AI and automated responses generally create a bridge between the brand and the customer. The customer wants to know that somebody can genuinely understand his/her grievances to solve a problem. Sometimes, it’s good to deal with customers on a personal level. It instills trust and gives more credibility to the brand. 42% 29% 16% 13% Live chat Emails Forums others CUSTOMER PREFERENCE FOR COMMUNICATION (%)

  6. QUALITY NOT QUANTITY With the growing competition on social media, people get so caught up in the race that they focus more on quantity rather than quality. Posting more videos isn’t the right way of growing your followers. Yes, you need to be consistent, but the quality of your content can not be compromised. If you regularly post poor quality content, there’s a high risk followers might unfollow you. An average person only reads 20% of your text so make sure your content is of good quality SOURCE: HONGKIAT.COM

  7. NOT MEASURING RESULTS It’s detrimental for any business to know what works and what doesn’t. If you continuously try to spam people with content which wasn’t working in the first place, you’re obviously doing it wrong. Try to see which type of posts work you, what style works and the captions of each post. Based on that, create more content. SOURCE:FORBES

  8. POSTING INFREQUENTLY Now when I said not to focus on quality but focus on quantity, doesn’t mean you post once a month. That’s even worse. People have a tendency to forget or unfollow any page or brand that isn’t active on social media. You need to be consistent with your posts. At least 3-4 posts per week can help you retain your current following. 25 20 15 10 5 0 1-2 times 3-4 times 5-7times HOW OFTEN DO BUSINESSES POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA (%)
