  2. Brief History of Face Jugs • Originally created as grave markers for slaves who could not have tombstones. • Later made during the Prohibition era to store alcohol. Scary faces were created to scare a children way from the contents of the jug.

  3. Face Jug requirements and construction • Construct a functional jug with a sculptured face. Face must contain some sort of expression, emotion. • Image does not have to be ugly or scary but must be an original design. You cannot receive an A if face is copied. • Construction can be made of slab cylinders or draped over a large milk jug. • Jug must contain a body, neck, lip and handle ( on the neck ). • Facial features will be added on after jug is constructed. Make sure no features are larger than an inch, if so they must be hollowed out. • Width must be at least 8 inches and height must be at least 10 inches.
