  1. Final Focus By Chanise

  2. Ground Rules • Leave the debate behind. • NO GOING OVER THE FLOW. • Always use voters. • Try to end with powerful statements. • They are only for explaining what the round has come down to, not for placing new arguments on the flow. • Tell why you are winning over an opponent not why one thing matters over another.

  3. Basic • Recap framework and other important observation • Impact Calc alll voters! Most important part of a FF • The goal of this speech is to tell the judge what they are going • What you say in this speech should embody what you want the RFD to say. • Your final focus should be written on that ballot as to explain why you won the round.

  4. How to determine voters • Group impacts together to involve all of the major points that have been brought up in the round. • Usually determined by what your partner or opponent says in the summary. • Do not be afraid to accept what your opponents determine as the voters. Just say you are winning those points or say that the points that you are winning are far more important. • If framework is an important issue in the round, then put it at the top of your speech. (don’t ramble) just put ink on it.

  5. Structure of speech • Road map the voters at the beginning of the speech • Sign post from voter to voter • Their side first then yours. • The final focus is meant to summarize the attacks put on each argument. Most importantly describe and tell WHY you are winning or losing a point. • Impact Calc

  6. Persuasion • Most of this speech is about how you come across to the judge. If you can be persuasive it can flip a round from you getting killed to a land slide victory for you. • Be confident and listen to Cindy’s lectures about speaking well. It is an essential skill for this speech.
