2019 Will Witness Higher Admission Targets via Express Entry

Prior to this record a massive number of 86,023 Invitations to Apply were issued in 2017 and seeing the trend it seems likely that the number of ITAs issued in 2018 will be easily surpassed by the time we approach the end of 2019.

  1. 2019 Will Witness Higher Admission Targets via Express Entry 2018 has been a record-breaking year as far as the number of applicants settling in Canada under the Express Entry Programme are considered. With such an exceptional number of 89,800 Invitations to Apply for Canadian Permanent Residence issued this year, the number of ITAs are likely to surpass the last year's record. Canada's comprehensive Express Entry system is incharge of the entire batch of candidates who apply for Canada's three Federal High Skilled immigration programs. Under the Canadian Express Entry programme, a mind boggling 89,800 invitations were issued to apply for Canadian PR in 2018. These record number of ITAs have been the highest to be issued in one year ever since the Express Entry programme was launched on 1st January 2015. Prior to this record a massive number of 86,023 Invitations to Apply were issued in 2017 and seeing the trend it seems likely that the number of ITAs issued in 2018 will be easily surpassed by the time we approach the end of 2019. The three programmes - Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) and the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) fall under the purview of the Express Entry System. As per the multi-year immigration levels plan the goal set for the admissions to be achieved for these programmes is going to increase by 6,500 in 2019 and will escalate by another 4,400 in 2020. Thus, to meet the upsurge in these admissions for the CEC, FSWC and FSTC programmes there is going to be an obvious and necessary rise in the number of ITAs that will be issued to aspiring immigrants. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will need to expand the size of the draws or hold the draws more frequently, with lesser intervals, if they need to send across more ITAs and attract more admissions than they did in 2018. For now, the strategy that the IRCC pursues in 2019 remains to be seen. However, the way things have positively concluded in 2018, they are indicative of many constructive steps that will be taken in 2019.
