All Students Eligible for Accelerated Courses • Matrix Used to Identify Students for Placement • Matrix Incorporates DRP, State Assessment, Course Grades, and Teacher Evaluation. • 39 of 48 Points Needed to be placed in Accelerated Course. • Review of Extenuating Circumstances for Students with 37-38 points

  5. Minimum of B Average to MaintainEnrollment • 5 Week Probation with Letter and Phone Call to Parents • End of Probation Student Removed if Average Below a B • Students Only Removed in 1st or 2nd Marking Period • Students Must Meet Standard to Continue in Accelerated Program

  7. Accelerated Science 7 into Earth Science Matrix

  8. Enriched Math 6 into Accelerated Math 7 Matrix

  10. Why? • Formalize procedures • Insure the integrity and consistency of Honors • Improve parental communication • Establish a formal appeals process

  11. How? • High School Team meetings • Joint meetings with Middle Schools • Departmental presentations to elicit input • Final meeting with High school team • Final meeting with Middle schools

  12. Procedures provide for: • Out of District applicants (Transfer students) • Grade 8 Honors to grade 12 Honors (to maintain honor’s status) • Regents to Honors grades 9 to 12 • 8th grade (students not in 8th grade Honors) to 9th grade Honors • Appeals Process
