  2. In a mango grove, there lived two monkeys who spent their time playing and eating mangoes. They even made friends with the gardener and played with his children. kOti = Monkey renDu = two

  3. One day one monkey hurt his leg. He could not climb the trees. The other monkey however was happily swinging on the trees as usual. • maamiDipanDu = mango cheTTu = tree

  4. When he got hungry, he asked his friend to throw him a fruit. The other monkey did not bother to drop even a single fruit. The hurt monkey walked away hopelessly. aakali = hungry niraashagaa = hopelessly

  5. The hurt monkey, still hungry, lifted a rock to throw at the tree in order to get some mangoes. To his surprise, under the rock was a silver coin. The monkey took the coin and gave it to the gardener. The gardener was very happy and rewarded the monkey with lots of mangoes. raayi = rock aashcharyam = surprise venDibilla = silver coin

  6. When the other monkey found out what happened, he got very jealous. He also lifted a rock. There was a red scorpion under the rock which stung him. • tElu = scorpion kuTTindi= stung

  7. Unable to bear the pain caused by the scorpion the monkey started jumping crazily. The gardener thinking that the monkey lost his mind and would be a danger to his kids, drove him out of the grove. baadha = pain tOTamaali = gardener

  8. Moral(s) of the storyOnly a friend in need is a friend indeed. Always help the needy.
