What are the chapter awards

What are the chapter awards?

  • One first place winner in each of the following Areas of Opportunity:

    • Management (including Marketing and Public Relations Commission, Strategic Planning Commission, Financial Management Commission, Business Opportunities Commission)

    • Community (including Community Service Commission, Community Fundraising Commission, Government and Civic Involvement Commission, Children and Youth Commission)

    • Individual (including Personal Development Commission, Professional Development Commission, International Involvement Commission, State/National/International Junior Chamber Involvement Commission, Membership Retention, Growth, and New Chapter Commission, Chapter Activities Commission) Rather than using base groups up to 3 nominees will be announce for each category

  • Up to four Vice President Award of Excellence in each of the programming areas listed above (The VP Award of excellence is chosen at the discretion of the programming Vice President upon approval of the President)

  • One first place winner representing the best Chairman’s Planning Guide for a Single Project Entry (SPE) for each of the 12 award divisions. Rather than using base groups up to 3 nominees will be announce for each category

  • Outstanding New Project (Limited to first time projects)

  • Outstanding Signature Project (Limited to long standing, large scale projects chapters are known for)

  • Outstanding Chapter Newsletter

  • Outstanding Newsletter for District and Region Directors

  • Outstanding web site award

  • Outstanding Public Relations efforts in the following classifications:

  • - Group A: Projects involving 1 – 100 participants

  • - Group B: Projects involving 101 – 500 participants

  • - Group C: Projects involving 501 – 5000 participants

  • - Group D: Projects involving more than 5000 participants

  • Overall Chapter Parade

  • Chapter of the quarter

  • Passport to Leadership (a.k.a. Springboard and Degrees) participation recognition.

  • Recruiter Recognition

  • Individual Competition Programs:

  • First timers program to be implemented and designed by the MIJC JCI Senate

Creating an Electronic Submission For Area of Opportunity Reports

  • These submissions are to be created and submitted - electronically.

  • It is not necessary to create one Overall submission and Area submissions.

  • There is no limit on the amount of pages that can be included in a submission

Creating an electronic submission for single project entries

Creating an Electronic Submission For Single Project Entries

  • The Single Project Entry shall be limited to a total of 30 pages. Excludes Tab Pages and Front Cover.

  • Up to eight (8) pages can be multiple-page documents. Multiple-page documents include such items as magazines, bulletins, manuals, agendas and newsletters. Each of these may be counted as a multiple-page document. A collection of related items (photographs, receipts, newspaper clippings, etc.) is NOT considered to be a multiple page document.

  • All pages must be numbered. If it is a multiple page document, it should be numbered with the page number and the multiple page number.

  • Photographs that best substantiate the project should be included

  • All submission must be made in PDF format. These are all the same qualifications as in previous years

  • Submissions for CPG Review should follow the SPE Guidelines as often as possible to give reviewer the best possible overview of the project.

  • Submissions that are to be included in Quarterly judging process:

    • Must follow the SPE Guideline format (A MOCK SPE can be found in the MIJC Document Library for further reference).

    • Include in Judging box must be checked on SPE/CPG Review Cover Page.

    • A project entry fee for all quarterly SPE submissions of $1 each will be due with quarterly books submissions.

  • Evaluations will be returned to the email requested on the SPE/CPG Review cover page by the end of the month submitted.

  • Project Nominees and Winners will be announced at Convention.

  • What was the impact on the chapter and/or the community?

    - Did the project accomplish its goals?

    - Did the committee chairperson and members learn leadership and management skills through the project?

    - Did the project reflect a sincere effort to fulfill specific needs?

    - Was the project based on needs rather than ease of undertaking?

    - Did the project address a concern of the chapter and/or community?

    - Did the project reflect a sincere effort to get involved in problem areas?

    - What would the “loss” be if this project were not run?

  • How well was the project managed?

    - Was the chairperson given the proper training for his or her responsibilities?

    - How well did the committee plan for the achievement of its goals as they related to the chapter’s objectives?

    - Was adequate concern given to the financial management of the project?

    - Did the committee’s management reflect a consideration of the individual talents of its members?

    - Was proper communication utilized such as committee meetings, committee structures, and public relations?

  • How successful was the project?

    - Was the CPG used as an ongoing management tool?

    - Does the substantiating material adequately document the committee’s action?

    - Were the evaluations taken seriously and used as learning experiences?

    - Was the project well managed?

  • How well were resources used?

    - Were possible community resources identified?

    - How well did the chapter utilize the time, talent, and other resources of non-members in the following:

    a. Problem or need determinations

    b. Goal setting

    c. Committee planning

    d. Project success

    - Were the resources used to benefit the participating individuals?

  • Presentation and Overall Format of the Submission

    - Is the CPG presented neatly and professionally?

    - Does the CPG use proper grammar and spelling?

    - Is the substantiation reflective of the stated accomplishments?The Final Determination of winners is a combination of the score from the judging forms and the evaluation of the impact of the project by the programming team.

  • IMPACT, IMPACT, IMPACT

    • As with all of our awards, impact is considered more important than format.

    • Impact must be SUBSTANTIATED by your submission.
