  3. Graduate Diploma Programme in Information & Communication Technology (ICT) for the GMS

  4. Purpose Main Menu 1. To jointly develop a one-year graduate diploma programme in ICT for the GMS. 2. To collaborate in offering the graduate diploma by distance/online education.

  5. Target groups Main Menu Target group are the bachelor’s degree graduates in any fields from public or private sectors.

  6. Programme Main Menu • The programme consists of • five courses, each worth 5 credits: • Foundation (15 credits) • Specialization (10 credits)

Details of the courses Main Menu • Foundation in ICTcomprising 3 courses and • worth 15 credits • - Fundamentals of ICT (5 credits) • - Object Oriented: Theory & Practice (5 credits) • - Multimedia and Internet Development (5 credits) • Specializationcomprising 2 courses and worth 10 credits (concentrating upon special professions such as Law, Education, Business) • - Individual Study in ICT (5 credits) • - Practical Experiences in ICT Applications (5 credits)

Instructional Media Main Menu Printed media/CD-ROM • Instructional materials • A study guide Computer-based Tutorials • Computer-based tutorials involve presentations by tutors. • Each module should have at least one tutorial presentation • by the tutors.   12. Main Menu Academic Semester (STOU) and Study Plan 1st Semester 1 July - 31 October 2nd Semester 16 December - 30 April Students must take a minimum of one course and a maximum of three courses per semester.

  13. Registration Main Menu Students will register at participating universities before the semester starts. Student pay fees as specified.

  15. Student Learning and Advising Main Menu 1. Students study instructional materials by themselves. 2. Computer-based tutorials could be provided at home or at the study centers located at participating universities. 3. VDO presentation could be provided through the DLF satellite. Satellite receivers should be installed at the study centers located at participating universities. Internet will be used for student advising.

  18. Examinations Main Menu At the end of the semester students must take an examination. The examinations will be organized at the participating universities. The staff at the participating universities will serve as proctors of the examinations. Examination papers will be sent to the institution offering the course for grading.

Awarding the Certificate Main Menu • A Graduate Diploma Certificate of achievement • in GMS ICT will be awarded upon completion of • the course requirements as specified in the • programme. • A Certificate of achievement for the individual • courses will also be available for students who • do not wish to pursue the entire programme • but would like to take a particular course.

  21. Program Management Main Menu A Steering Committee representing the stakeholders should be set up to oversee the operation of the programme.

  23. Purpose Main Menu To develop the proficiency in computers of school teachers and their ability to teach computers.

  24. Target groups Main Menu Target group are in-service school teachers teaching computers at the basic level.

  25. Programme Main Menu • The programme is worth 6 credits, • with the following modules: • Principles and Components of Computers • Computer Programmes • Application of Computer Programmes • Computer Teaching Methodology • Measurement and Evaluation
