  4. Aim is to achieve peace and harmony among people

  5. requirements • Industrial and technological growth go hand in hand with environment. • Ecological balance is responsibility of all individuals. • National unity, which is outcome of tradition.

  6. Contributors to concept of national security • Willy Brandt • Reports were focused on problem of development & how military can be used for development of country. • Olof Palme • Approach of ‘common security’. • One country can’t be secure by making other countries insecure.

Comprehensive security • Due to Globalization world became interdependent in terms of economy & technology. • Communication became faster & cheaper. • Non state actor become more active. • Environmental security: solving issues related to environment • Economic security: focuses on problems of poverty, employment opportunities, etc. • Social security: issues of migration, social conflict, ethnicity. • Political security: threats from political conflicts.

Human security • Two major components of human security FREEDOM FROM FEAR and FREEDOM FROM WANT • Dimensions of human security • Economic security: people must have assured income. • Food security: get & afford basic food. • Health security: people must have access to health services • Environmental security: protect ecosystem • Personal security • Community security • Political security
