WELCOME Camp Zone 2011 “Around the USA in 10 Weeks” Camp Schedule Camp Hours 8:00am-5:00pm Before Care 6:30-8:00 After Care 5:00-6:00 Camp Zone® offers fun-filled summer programs for children ages 5-12. Each week, campers jump into action, participating in exciting sports programs, exploring nature, becoming involved in performing and creative arts, playing a part in group activities, and attending special events. Our campers have the opportunity to expand their horizons during the summer, embarking on new adventures, and having fun! Our exceptional program and dedicated staff create an environment that forges lifelong friendships among our campers. We create a summer experience that is unforgettable! It all starts with our outstanding camp counselors. A camp is only as good as its staff, and we are extremely proud of ours. Talent, creativity, love of children, leadership and devotion make our camp counselors the heart and soul of the program. We take our camp programs seriously and begin our summer with intensive staff training and orientation. Camp Zone® counselors and specialists are doing exactly what they enjoy most: spending a summer inspiring campers to explore, reach for new heights, and expand their horizons. Camp Zone® gives you choices. Camp Zone® includes five days of activities, from 8:00am to 5:00 pm. You can choose to add extended hours and specialty camps to your menu of summer fun. We offer a range of outdoor activities, plus indoor activities conducted in our fully air conditioned facility. Our specialty camps are optional programs, operating during regular camp hours, which provide even more choices for unique and exciting adventures.   3. THEMES Camp Zone 2011 “Around the USA in 10 Weeks” This summer our campers will take a trip around the United States of America. No need to pack a bag, your imagination is all you need to explore 10 fun-filled destinations! Campers will explore different cultures and landmarks as they travel from coast to coast. From the sunny beaches in Florida to the ice covered glaciers of Alaska, this summer will be filled with learning, friendships and FUN! We begin our summer as we travel to New York, known as the “Big Apple,” where we will catch some sights of the Statue of Liberty and learn about it’s history. Next stop, Coney Island where we will spend our days playing fun carnival games and even winning prizes! We head to our nations capital, Washington DC this week. We will learn about the past presidents who have served our country and the memorials that honor them. We will also make our own American flags WEEK 6 WEEK 1 WEEK 2 This week the campers are going North to South Dakota. We will discover Mt. Rushmore. We will learn about different types of rock and also the large amount of wildlife in the area. California is our next destination as we head to the west coast. We will visit Hollywood where we will all become stars. Surfs up as we all try out our surfing skills and participate in “beachy” water games and activities. WEEK 7 What’s cold, dark and covered in ice? Alaska! That’s where we’re headed this week as we learn about the Eskimo’s, their culture and also how glaciers are formed. We will even get to build our own igloos. We will spend this week traveling to our home state of North Carolina. We will talk about the Wright Brothers and their discovery of flight. Everyone will even get to build their own airplane. WEEK 3 WEEK 8 We travel to a much warmer climate this week as we arrive in Hawaii. We will get to learn all about volcanoes. This week will come to an end with a luau party where we will make our own leis and grass skirts. We travel to Florida this week and board our airboats as we tour the Everglades National Park and check out the interesting wildlife. Next stop, the Keys where we will snorkel the crystal clear waters of the Coral Reef. WEEK 4 WEEK 9 We all get to be cowboys and cowgirls this week as we visit the “Lone Star State” of Texas. We will learn about living on a ranch and taking care of the animals. We will even learn how to square dance. The last stop of our vacation is Nevada. We will visit the Mojave Desert and learn about the culture of the Mojave Indians. We will make our own tribal attire and even build a tepee. WEEK 5 WEEK 10 http://denvernc.chesterbrookacademy.com/

  4. HIGHLIGHTS The Camp Zone Experience Sample Daily Schedule Activities “Frisbee Golf”- All Campers This year we are introducing Frisbee Golf to our fun-filled program. Frisbee Golf, also known as Disc Golf, is growing in popularity in parks all around the USA, including here in Denver! This game, with rules similar to golf, uses discs that campers will try to make into the targets. Campers will be provided with their very own frisbee and will learn the rules of the game. Campers will be able to take part in a Frisbee Golf Tournament. “Geocaching”- All Campers Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment. “KLUTZ” Activities-- All Campers Designed for doing, NOT just reading. Klutz has it all: drawing, bead art, fairies, jewelry, magic, science, and more. Klutz books and activities are perfect for exploring new creative interests and for expanding on old favorites. Most activities come in multiple themes to appeal to discerning creative minds. SPECIALTY Specialty Camp Descriptions CHEERLEADINGAges 5 to 12 This action-packed program is designed to introduce campers to the wonderful world of cheerleading.  The experienced and well-trained staff carefully instruct each camper on basic terminology and motions. After mastering the fundamentals, the cheerleaders learn dance routines, simple stunts, and elementary jumps.  Having worked on individual and group cheers, this dynamic group struts its stuff at a camp-wide show. Dates: TBA Time: TBA Cost: TBA SOCCER SHOTSAges 5 to 12 Soccer Shots is a uniquely designed program that will introduce soccer to your camper in a fun, safe and controlled environment. Each soccer session will offer basic skills, fun games, competitions, and prizes for your camper. The program also emphasizes character-forming lessons such as fair team play, individual concentration, cooperation and encouragement. Dates: July 11-15 Time: 9:00-9:45am Cost: TBA SWIMMING LESSONSAges 4 to 12 The primary goals of the lessons are twofold; one, to help swimmers improve their technical skills, and two, to help educate and motivate swimmers to encourage their progress. Swimmers are taught in a structured and enjoyable environment that emphasizes individual improvement. The camp focuses on stroke instruction.Lesson will be provided in two-week sessions, Monday through Thursday, with Friday being a weather make-up day. Dates: Time: 9:00-9:30 Session 1 – June 20-July 1st Session 2 – July 11-22nd Session 3 – July 25-Aug. 5th Session 4 – Aug. 8th-19th Cost: $65 ($15 transportation fee) KUNG FU Ages 5 to 12 This exciting camp will keep campers moving all summer long. Campers will learn basic kicks and punches of Shoalin Kung Fu taught by Sifu Mark Williams, instructor of state, regional, national and world champions. Dates: TBA Time: TBA Cost: TBA POTTERYAges 5 to 12 Campers will get in touch with their creative side when taking part in our pottery camp. Meg-Art Pottery representatives will begin with the basic steps of molding clay into shapes using different techniques. Campers will create their art on Day 1 and then get to paint their art work on Day 2. *Artwork will not be taken home during the week of camp, it will be delivered to the school after 10 days for the firing process to take place. .
