Overview • The world has 1,011 billionaires, up from 793 a year ago, and that was despite the global economic slowdown, according to the Forbes annual list of the world's richest people. • Among the top 10 richest persons across the world, there are two Indians. • Although China has more billionaires than India (which has 23 billionaires), ten of Asia's top 25 are Indian, while one is Chinese. Hong Kong and Japan each have five in Asia's top 25. • So who are the richest Indians in UAE?

Dr P Mohamed Ali • Out of the top 10 richest Indian Galfar construction MD Dr P Mohamed Ali has been consistently making his way in LIST OF TOP 10since last 5 years. • In 1972, Dr P Mohamed Ali founded Galfar Engineering and Contracting, in the Sultanate of Oman, along with Sheikh Dr. Salem Said Al Fannah Al Araimi. • Galfar began as a small construction company and grew to become Oman's largest private sector employer. Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG (Galfar) is Oman’s largest construction company with EPC capability in Oil & Gas, Roads & Bridges and Civil, Marine Infrastructure and Utilities & Service sectors operating in Oman, other GCC countries as well as India. • For over 40 years, Galfar has established itself as the “Preferred Partner in Development” in Oman with a turnover above USD 1 Billion.

Dr P Mohamed Ali • As the founder of Galfar Engineering and Contracting Co, Dr P Mohamed Ali has earned his stripes as one of the Gulf’s leading entrepreneurs. • From its start in 1972, the firm has grown into the single largest private sector employer in Oman, with an annual turnover of more than $1bn and more than 27,000 staff. • Outside of his business interests, Dr Ali is the founder of the Oman Petroleum Alliance and the former vice chairman of the state-backed Omanisation Joint Committee. • His charitable works include founding the PM Foundation, which promotes education in rural Indian communities, and being chief patron of the TalikulamVikas Trust. • Dr Ali has been awarded the Oman Civil Order for his services to the sultanate and, in 2004, received the coveted Outstanding Non-Resident Indian Award.

Dr P Mohamed Ali Awards and Achievements • Through his work at Galfar and his numerous social initiatives and projects, Dr. Ali has received many accolades from both the Omani government and those abroad. • He was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Science from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2001. In 2002, he was presented the Oman Civil Order award from the representative of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, for his contribution to Oman in the business sectors, as well as for his social and education initiatives. • Then in 2004 from AtalBihari Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of India, Dr. P. Mohamed Ali received the PravasiBharatiyaSamman award, for promoting the honor and prestige of India. • In 2013, he was honoured with the PravasiDiwas, by the President of India for his contributions to the hospitality sector, as well as his support in developing the Cochin International Airport. • This past year, he was awarded the Asian Business Leadership Forum Award (ABLF Award), for Business Courage 2013.
