  1. Most selling Carbonated drinks in India

  2. Carbonated drinks in India or more commonly called soft drinks have become a crucial part of the Indian lifestyle mainly due to the hot and humid climatic conditions. They are a popular choice among Indian audiences due to their unique sparkling texture and sugary taste. However, consumers are now leaning more towards authenticity, naturality, convenience and healthy alternatives. As a result of consumers searching for more natural and premium products, these beverages are getting lower in sugar, more refreshing, and have more authentic taste experiences. Beverage manufacturers are now offering a wider range of products to satisfy their customers with consistently great-tasting flavour and texture.

  3. Coca-Cola: Commonly referred to as coke in India, Coca-cola is one of the largest selling carbonated drinks in India. It has a unique flavour and mouthfeel that complement the Indian palate. Almost everyone agrees that nothing tastes better than coca-cola. Which is why it is commonly used as a refreshment, a mixer with cocktails or just with snacks. It goes perfectly with a whole range of junk foods including pizza and samosa. The company also has several other brands, capturing about 60% of the market in India. While Coca Cola alone captures around 40% of the Indian soft drink market, as the most popular carbonated drink in India.

  4. Pepsi: While this drink appears to be similar to Coke in mouthfeel, there is a significant difference in flavour. It gives a stronger flavour while Coke is a lot smoother. As per a study, Pepsi has more of a citrus taste, while coke is overpowered by a raisiny-vanilla tang. The sweeter and more citrusy taste behind Pepsi is why it’s one of the most popular carbonated drinks in India. Since its introduction in the Indian market, the taste of this carbonated drink has remained the same. To cater to health-conscious audiences, Pepsi is also available in the low-calorie and low-sugar drink known as the Diet Pepsi. In this drink, artificial sweeteners are used, instead of sugar. With a market share of 40%, Pepsi is the main competitor of Coca Cola, another top carbonated drink in India.

  5. Thums Up: Introduced in 1977 by Parle Agro, Thums Up captured the Indian cola market when Coca-Cola and Pepsi were expelled by the Indian government. Over the next 16 years, the brand controlled up to over an 80% market share. After 1990, when the Indian government welcomed back the foreign carbonated drinks in India, it was still the most popular drink in the market. While the drink might seem similar to coke, it actually has quite distinct flavour profiles. The carbonation and fuzziness are strong on both the drinks. However, Coke's bubbles only accentuate the cola flavour in the beginning, the Thums Up carbonation feels more like a pleasant tingle that compliments the flavour. Most importantly, there seems to be more complexity to the spices in the Thums Up which is why it has a smoother, more enjoyable finish than standard Coke. Thums Up was the highest-selling carbonated drink in India until 2013 when the Sprite took over its place.
