  1.               A Comprehensive Guide of Repairing, Rebasing and Relining a Broken Denture A denture can fix your oral problems! However, there are certain complications associated with full dentures. Dentures can break or get fractured due to several reasons. An ill-fitted version can move around the mouth too much, which may cause a rupture. Regular wear and tear of dentures also lead to fracture. The daily stress from actions such as chewing and talking can cause the denture to break over time. Even shrinking jaw bone contribute highly to broken dentures. While denture fracture is a serious problem that needs to be answered immediately, there are several ways in which the fractured version can be fixed. Whether repairing it or relining it, dentures can be mended by professionals. To ease things for you, denture repair Edmonton based experts have highlighted the various methods of fixing a fractured denture. Keep reading to find out more. Repairing a Denture: Various fractures on the denture can be repaired, though the process used may vary depending on the type and severity of the rupture. Midline fractures are fixed by assembling the broken parts and sticking these together using wax. Plastic sticks, stone plaster and even rubber bands are used to join the broken pieces together. However, in some cases, a new denture has to be made. If a part of the denture goes missing, an impression of the patient’s mouth is taken, wax is carved into the missing part and all the

In case of broken or missing teeth on the denture, teeth with the same shape, shade and size are fixed to the base plate with wax. A plaster key is often used to record the position of the teeth for further repair. Rebasing a Denture: Replacing the base material of a denture with a new version without affecting the other elements is known as rebasing a denture. If the present denture is porous or unsatisfactory, this process is applied. Hooper duplicator is used to get an impression of the teeth and the base material from the denture is removed while the teeth are held together using wax. Further down the procedure, the base is placed in right alignment with the teeth. The rebased denture is checked again in case further corrections are required. Relining a Denture: Poor adaptation of the dentures to the underlying tissues gives rise to relining the denture. A new resin material is added to the surface of the denture without changing any other element. The denture is left out from the mouth for at least 48 hours to ensure that the tissue starts its own recovery. Removing the denture also reduces irritation caused by it. The relining process begins by removing undercuts from the base of the denture. The peripheral extensions are checked and the denture border is reduced to accommodate the addition of the new material. The old denture material is cleaned thoroughly before adding the new resin material. The finishing and polishing procedures are completed thereafter. You can seek denture relines Edmonton based services from expert denturists. To conclude, it is now easy to fix a broken denture with either of the processes mentioned.
