  1. The 7 Things To Remember When Relocating Your Business Your Mission: Move the Company

  2. Moving can add a lot of stress to your plate, especially when you are moving the entity that makes you money. On the following pages we will help you remember all the things you need to know when relocating your company.

  3. A. Have your dates and times set. • The movers will be at your location on: • __________________ at ___:____ AM/PM • Business will be back up and running on: • __________________ at ___:____ AM/PM • B. Post notices and remind your employees. • Let your customers know early and often that there might be a delay in “business as usual.” • During the move, if a customer needs something they can contact: • ____________________ at (____) ____-_______ • 1. Schedule

  4. A. Who is packing… • Offices? ☐ Employees ☐ Movers • Cubicles? ☐ Employees ☐ Movers • Kitchen? ☐ Employees ☐ Movers • Supplies? ☐ Employees ☐ Movers • Files? ☐ Employees ☐ Movers • B. Label everything in a helpful manner: • S is for Supply Closet • K is for Kitchen • R is for Reception • C is for Cubicles • Each cubicle should also be identified (ex. C1 or C24). 2. Packing

  5. Aside from your customers, there are quite a few people you need to notify: • Electric • Water • Internet • Telephone • Post Office • Couriers • If your equipment needs special assistance, such as photocopiers or your computer network, notify the providers well in advance and remind them a week before. 2. Transfer

  6. If your employees are packing their own stuff, make sure you have enough supplies for them to use. • Boxes • Tape • Markers • Remember : • Paper gets heavy. Files and paperwork should go in small to medium sized boxes. Books should always go in small boxes. 3. Supplies

  7. Most likely you will hire professional movers to handle your boxes, whether or not they pack them. Find a qualified mover with great recommendations. Book the movers early – have someone from the company look at your location to give you a proper estimate. 5. Helpers

  8. Visit the new location and predetermine where everything will go. Make a floor plan. Have a copy of the floor plan for each person helping you organize the move – station these people throughout your new space to direct the movers. You can also give a copy of your floor plan to the movers. 6. Floor Plan

  9. Contact the city to find out where you can park your truck. • There might be a permit involved, or you might need to have a portion of the street blocked off. • Permits are always cheaper than parking tickets or fines. • Some cities need two weeks to process these types of requests. 7. Parking
