  2. BSF – Update • Renewed focus on an educational transformation programme • £210m in Stevenage • All secondary schools involved • Schools ready for 21st century • ‘The first of something new not the best of the old’ • School staff, governors and students engaged.

  3. Outcomes of statutory review • Six, 8FE mainstream schools • now 5 x 8fe, 1 x 7fe • Closure of Heathcote • 2012 • Relocation of TAS to Great Ashby • Co-location of Lonsdale and Greenside on mainstream sites • Relocation of Valley school

The Educational Transformation • Larger schools • Improved standards • Improved opportunities • Increased sustainability • Better value for money • Partnership agreement • Trust schools • Town wide trust • Build upon 14 to 19 • Extended school agenda • Integrated Services • Personalisation • ICT development

The Outline Business Case • Due for submission on 23rd July after Cabinet approval on 21st July • At this stage still under development • Develop the plans for educational transformation into reality. • Relates to corporate and CYPP objectives • Sets out how the educational estate will be developed • Sets out costs • Affordability – funding streams (including negotiating abnormals) • Identifies risks and strategies for dealing with them. • Proposals for working arrangements with the LEP • Timetable • Strategy for leading and managing the change.

  6. OBC Issues being developed at the moment • Section 2 The Corporate Vision • Include Stevenage regeneration plans and Diocese vision. Strategic Overview • Increase emphasis placed on Francis Combe as first Hertfordshire academy Key Estates Priorities • Rewrite with extra emphasis placed on Francis Combe • Section 3 Option Analysis and Feasibility • Rewrite to include extra emphasis on educational transformation, ICT and curriculum modelling Sample Schools • Rewrite with more emphasis on education and learning and SEN • Sections 4 + 5 • Some work from PWC now arrived • Section 7 • Rewrite with more emphasis on education and learning and impact upon the classroom.

  8. The plans for each site • Marriotts/Lonsdale co-location and new build – a PFI scheme. • Nobel, Barnwell, John Henry Newman, Barclay, Greenside, Valley all traditional design and build. Mixed new build, refurbishment and extensive remodelling. • Thomas Alleyne School new build on new site at Great Ashby - a PFI scheme
