Initial Ideas AFTER ALL THIS DO YOUR FIRST TEST SHOOT Show your contact sheet and a selection of images with annotation • Include • Title • Mini brainstorm • Images • Research into 2 photographers Further research into 2 photographers to aid development of ideas • Include • Basic background information • Inspiration / focus for their work • Analysis of work including their use of the formal elements • How their work could relate to the development of your own work

Tutorials Assignment : STILL LIFE This Genre in photography has faded from popularity over time, nonetheless there is still a lot of great work that can be created within this area and it is one we are about to explore. One of the main advantages is that this type of photography can be done at home with daylight, reading lamps and objects collected from your immediate environment. • What will I need? • A selection of objects that relate to your chosen theme (do a brainstorm) • Any background material you may wish to use • Any printed images or props you may need to construct before hand • YOU NEED TO THINK AND PLAN THIS BEFORE YOU COME TO THE LESSON!! thebrief Using as many or as few light sources as you wish, create an atmospheric still life, focusing on items that relate to your own theme. Experiment with the arrangement of every element of the composition, from the objects themselves to the background and foreground. Control the lighting and shade so that no manipulation is needed later. Try various settings on your camera. • Points to remember • Don’t be afraid to experiment • Use a tripod if possible • Small apertures = large depth of field • Vary your viewpoint • If using manual settings keep a note of the camera settings Must see masters Beatrice Helg Mari Mahr Josef Sudek RESEARCH Homework + PLANNING YOUR SHOOT Find examples of their work and think about what elements you could include in your own photographs
