  1. Jesus: God’s Mirror God’s Restoration

  2. Theme Passage Heb 1 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory & the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in Heaven. NIV

  3. Restoration- a return of something to a former, original, normal, or unimpaired condition through reconstruction, renewal, healing, or reviving; the replacement or giving back of something lost, stolen or broken

  4. 1) God is a God of Restoration- Isaiah 57 15 For this is what the high & lofty One says-- he who lives forever, whose name is holy: "I live in a high & holy place, but also with him who is contrite & lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly & to revive the heart of the contrite.

  5. 1) God is a God of Restoration- Isaiah 57 16 I will not accuse forever, nor will I always be angry, for then the spirit of man would grow faint before me-- the breath of man that I have created.

  6. 1) God is a God of Restoration- Isaiah 57 17 I was enraged by his sinful greed; I punished him, & hid my face in anger, yet he kept on in his willful ways.

  7. 1) God is a God of Restoration- Isaiah 57 18 I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him & restore comfort to him, 19 creating praise on the lips of the mourners in Israel. Peace, peace, to those far & near," says the LORD. "And I will heal them."

  8. God’s heart is to bring back those who are lost, hurt, broken or struggling. God reveals Himself as “the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26), a God of great mercy.

  9. If God does not restore….then our pain is permanent, our sin is never covered, our grief never ends, our peace is never realized and our shame is everlasting.

  10. Zephaniah 3 16 On that day they will say to Jerusalem, "Do not fear, O Zion; do not let your hands hang limp. 17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save…

  11. Zephaniah 3 17 …He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." …

  12. Zephaniah 3 19 At that time I will deal with all who oppressed you; I will rescue the lame & gather those who have been scattered. I will give them praise & honor in every land where they were put to shame.

  13. Zephaniah 3 20 At that time I will gather you; at that time I will bring you home. I will give you honor & praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes before your very eyes," says the LORD.

  14. Do I believe God wants more to restore me or punish me?

  15. 2) Jesus Ministered God’s Restoration- Luke 4 18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To …

  16. 2) Jesus Ministered God’s Restoration- Luke 4 18 …preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives & recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

  17. 2) Jesus Ministered God’s Restoration- Luke 4 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." 20 Then He closed the book, & gave it back to the attendant & sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

  18. 2) Jesus Ministered God’s Restoration- Luke 4 21 And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

  19. When Jesus announced His ministry, it was a ministry of restoration- to bring people back to a right relationship with the Father & to show the Father’s mercy to those in need.

  20. Matt 4 23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, & healing every disease & sickness among the people.

  21. Matt 4 24 News about him spread all over Syria, & people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, & the paralyzed, & he healed them.

  22. Now God sends us out, in His power, to bring restoration to others…. Luke 9 1 When Jesus had called the Twelve together, He gave them power & authority to drive out all demons & to cure diseases, 2 & He sent them out to preach the kingdom of God & to heal the sick. NIV

  23. Where will I minister God’s restoration…who will I, under God’s power, seek to bring restoration to?
