Degree programme (B.A.) inSocial Services 1/2 • In Degree programme in social services students learn about the working environment, customers, working methods and development of social services. • Studies emphasize in • mental health clients, substance abusers and crisis work • preventing the marginalization and guiding social work • early childhood education. • In their work bachelors of social services support different aged people, families and communities. Social worker who works as an educator or mentor contributes especially to the welfare of children and young people for example in day care centers, child welfare institutions or as a family LaureaUniversity of Applied Sciences

  11. Degree programme (B.A.) in Social Services 2/2 worker. Social worker working in rehabilitation or social support on the other hand supports the elderly, disabled or immigrants. Graduates can become qualified kindergarten teachers by completing 60 credits of studies in early childhood education and social pedagogy. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - • In next two slides I present the contents of two courses in the Degree programme in Social Services that exchange students will be able to complete in english in Laurea Hyvinkää campus as from academic year 2014–2015. Child welfare (10 ects, online course) • Having completed the study unit the student is able to • understand the principles and stipulations of Children's Rights Agreement and Finnish Child Welfare Act. • know Finnish child welfare services system and practices. • know latest statistics involving child welfare. • It is also possible to do topics above concerning student´s own country. • support children and families in different circumstances. • evaluate the interest of the child. • use various child welfare methods. • Early intervention, preventive and rehabilitation methods. Multicultural social work (10 ects) • Having completed the study unit the student is able to • recognize howindividual´s own cultural backgroundeffects to her/his values. • analyze culturalassimilation process and how it effects to the development of national and cultural identity. • analyze cultural structures and processes that cause inequality and marginalization. • find ways to function in a multicultural working environment. • use various kinds of methods and techniques of community work.
