  1. Global Warming What is Global Warming? It is the increase in the average temperature of Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation.

  2. Primary Greenhouse Gases on the Earth’s atmosphere: • Carbon Dioxide • Water vapour • Methane • Nitrous Oxide • Ozone

  3. Some Facts • The profile of global energy consumption reveals that the world remains highly dependant on fossil fuels. • The burning of fossil fuels produces around 21.3 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year. • Carbon dioxide is one of the greenhouse gases that enhances radiative forcing and contributes to global warming. • In the United States, more than 90% of greenhouse gas emissions come from the combustion of fossil fuels

  4. CAUSING

  5. The effects cause a chain of events

  6. Melting of Arctic ice caps • Rise in water levels • Floods

  7. Change in temperature • Habitats get destroyed • Extinction of animal species

  8. Some of the world’s coldest places will become warmer

  9. THAT’S WHERE WE COME IN!

  10. Business Idea SOLAR STREET LIGHTS

  11. Overview • Import • 60:40 • 40% self invested • Target market will be B2B (DHA, Bahria town etc.)

  12. Product • Solar Powered Panels which will be powered by the sun • No maintenance scheduled for the first 5 years • automatic operation from dusk to dawn or timed ON/OFF operation •  over 8 years of typical operating life, with a 2-year warranty

  13. PRICE • Selling price of one solar street light is about 130,000 rupees • The total cost of a normal street light including all external cost over 2 years adds up to 140,000 rupees • In short, it is 20% more expensive than a normal street light without adding electricity bills • The consumer will recover that 20% in 2 years due to no electricity bills and zero maintenance

  14. PLACE • There will be one warehouse, in an easily accessible location • Imported street lights will be stored in the warehouse before taken for installation • Customers will visit our office located near the ware house to place orders.

  15. PROMOTION • Sponsor different environment related events to create awareness among the general public. • Show advertisements on television and publish leaflets. • Use important figures to spread our message and at the same time our product.

  16. STRENGHTHS • Among Few suppliers of solar street lights • Competitive pricing • Latest Technology • Plenty of sunshine in Pakistan • (approx. 300 days are sunny)

  17. WEAKNESSES • Getting Funds • Lack of awareness • Start with only one branch

  18. OPPORTUNITIES • New Housing authorities are being established • As the business progresses new branches will be opened • Profitable business through which we can recover our investments\ loan in a short time

  19. THREATS • Pakistan is an unstable country • Low level income groups may not be able to afford our product • Global Recession

  20. BENEFITS

  21. No line voltage, trenching, or metering No cost of transformers or meters to be added for electric service No cost of replacing concrete, asphalt or landscaping No power outages Battery backup for cloudy or rainy days No scheduled maintenance for up to 5 years Safe 12 volt/24 volt circuit, no risk of electric shock Self-contained solution - Light on/off controlled by automatic daylight sensing or hour preset

  22. Easy to install with quick connect plugs - less than 1 hour • Better light source - LED lamps feature cool white light without flickering and higher brightness than sodium lamps • Long life PV modules with more than 25 years of power generation capacity • Environmentally friendly - 100% powered by the sun, solar panels reduce fossil fuel consumption, eliminating pollution • No monthly electricity bill

  23. THANK YOU!
