  3. Project Details • Duration : 24 months • Start Date : October 2008 • End Date : September 2010

Executive summary of project Yyang ni sy ambik projek summary dalam proposal escience …kena edit lagik ni Basically this project involving a process of identifying a method that can produce a broadband in a bandpass filter and at the same time can decrease the transition band. This approach actually can increase the skirt steepness of the insertion loss graph. An investigation into a new structure that can increase the sensitivity of the cutoff frequency will make sure only the signal that in the passband can flow through the device. This method indirectly will totally cut of other frequencies from passing the filter. The overall of this project begin from identifying a new approach to obtain a broadband. A wide literature review into conventional method will guide in obtaining a new approach from the variety of the available method lead by other researchers. This approach definitely involve few substrate material which is a new combination to obtain the desired objectives.

Performance against objective • Objectives: • To investigate and implement a broadband filter using multilayer approach. • To investigate the affect of dielectric thickness in the multilayer broadband filter. • To investigate and improve the bandwidth of the bandpass filter. • Actual: • BPF using multilayer and metamaterial approach have been investigated and simulated • The affect of dielectric thickness in the multilayer broadband filter has been investigated. • The bandwidth of the bandpass filter can be improved using multilayer.

  9. Financial Expenditure (2) • Difficulties in getting ROs/PGs • Recently recruited and hence could accelerate expenses and work • Now will resign ( Dec 2009) • (Adib nak resign/abis tempoh…bulan 12 ni kan..if tak silap.)

  10. Challenges/Constraints • Unable to obtain good researchers • No postgraduate candidates • Rely on undergraduates for some work

  12. Technical Achievements • Conventional / single BPF have been simulated and fabricated on different materials/substrates. • Designed Interdigital Multilayer BPF, hence produce wider bandwidth. • Designed BPF using metamaterial approach, hence reduce the size.
