  • Web based email accounts can be accessed using a web browser.

  • You send text messages and also digital files such as images, audio and video attached with the email message.

  • Email messages are transferred instantly.

  • The Cost of sending an email is zero, but the cost for an Internet Service Provider often includes email service

  • Web mail is usually free

  • One email message can be sent to multiple recipients.

  • Email is accessible anywhere, anytime.

An email address consists of 3 parts:

  • Username (selected by the email owner)

  • @ sign (distinguish email from a web address)

  • Domain name (company providing the email service)

  • First part before the @ sign

  • Unique and identifies the name of the user

  • Use to log on to your email account along with your password.

  • Allows only you access to your account

  • Choose a password that is not easy to guess

  • Inbox -- The folder to view delivered messages.

  • Compose – Create a message to send.

  • Delete – Delete an email message.

  • Email Address – An address that someone has to type in the “to” field so that a message can be sent.

  • CC Field – All recipients are aware of who has been copied in on the email.

  • BCC Field – can be used when you don’t want the recipient to know who else has received a copy.

  • Reply – To send a message back to the person who sent it, with a new message added.

  • Forward – To pass a message that you have received to another person.

  • Delete – Deleting an open message
