  4. Purpose • To introduce a potential of Computer Assisted eXercise, as a training methodology for the Regional Crisis Management Operational Centers (RCMOC) in Italy.

  5. Introduction • Simulation is a means of representing dynamically the operating conditions of a real system. • Simulation used in training, dynamically models real environments and/or equipment to enable training audienceto acquire and practice skills, knowledge and attitudes. • Like any operation, civil protection activities requires that both the individuals and the agencies involved be properly trained to perform their assigned duties. • The use of simulation models permits decision makers to determine nearly all outcomes of the crisis management.

Computer Simulated Modeling Byrne (1997) wrote basic orientation with record: “It is not the question,What happened?” ... or even “What might happen?”, but rather “What are the necessary and sufficient conditions for a given result to be obtained?” Represent all activities and procedures, which are directed towards imitation of processes or entities from the real world.

In a Nutshell • Conclusion • From a learning standpoint, simulation allows realistic experimentation in a context sometimes difficult or impossible to replicate with the real equipment. • Leaders with an eye to the future have to develop their vision with simulators based on a careful analysis of their experiences in sufficient detail to be of actual use in the future.
