Preliminaries • Pre-class (10 classwork points): on your workstations, do the following: • Launch Internet Explorer and browse to http://www.freetypinggame.net. • Obtain your typing speed. • Practice placing your hands on the homerow without looking at the keyboard. • Click on the “Learn Now” button within the “Free Typing Lessons” pane. • Select lesson #3 and read the instructions which follow • “s” and “l” keys • Left and right ring fingers

  3. Review: Creating Documents • Launching Word • Saving documents • Save command • Save As command • Creating new folders

  4. Objectives • Proper hand placement on the home row. • Touch-type using the “s” and “l” keys at 20 w.p.m. • Identify Word common keyboard shortcuts. • Identify Word common interface elements: • scroll bars (horizontal and vertical) • Object browser • Window menu and close window

  5. Focus Lesson: Working with Existing Word Documents Complete steps #1 through #16 on p. 2 of the the handout. Pay particular attention to the object browser mentioned in steps #15 and #16.
