  2. ANXIETY A. Anxious (Strong 3309) - careful, to take thought. I. DEFINED B. Often translated (in neg. sense) anxious, over-anxious, worldly anxiety, full of care, worried. II. USAGE A. Preoccupation with, concern for : 1. For worldly things (Mt. 6:25, 27, 28, 31, 34). 2. For spiritual things (1 Cor.12:25; Phil. 2:20).

  3. ANXIETY III. MISPLACED MOTIVES A. Cannot server God & mammon (Mt. 6:24-26)! B. Cares of the world choke out spirituality (Luke 8:14)! C. Attachment to worldly things, means detachment from God (1 Tim.6:17; Col. 3:5).

  4. ANXIETY IV. CONFUSES VALUES A. Makes food more important than life (Mt. 6:25). 1. Murmuring (Ex. 15:22-24; 16:1-3; etc.). 2. Martha’s Distraction (Luke 10:38-42)! 3. We need to trust & obey (be godly!) (Ex. 15:26; 16:4; 1 Tim. 6:6)!

  5. ANXIETY IV. CONFUSES VALUES B. Makes clothes (outward appearance) more important than the body (Mt. 6:25). 1. “Pretty” Jezebel (2 Kgs 9:30; 16:31, 18:4). 2. We need to trust & obey (be godly!) (1 Tim. 2:9-10; 1 Cor.6:19-20)! CONCLUSION: A. Beware sinful anxiety! B. It comes from loving / trusting this world, rather than God. C. Manifested in attitudes, words & behavior.
