  1. Life of a StarStacia Deutsch and Rhody Cohon Discover how stars are born. Find out why they die.

  2. Introduction • Many stars use telescopes and other tool to study them. • Scientist called astronomers study stars and other things I the solar system. • Stars are found in the solar system.

  3. Spectral Classes • There are seven spectral classes. • The seven classes are class o, b, a, f, g, and k • Cause Effect Quickly lose fuel put into spectral classes

  4. Nebulas • Stars are born inside of nebulas. • A big cloud with huge clumps of dust. • When a nebula collapses a new star is born to a galaxy.

  5. Protostars • Nuclear fusion is key to a stars to a stars birth. • Sometimes stars form in huge clusters so its nebula is really big. • The protostar shoots off its gas and jets through its protoplanetary disk.

  6. Chp.2 Main Sequence of a Star • Some stars don’t actually become a real star. • They become brown dwarfs. • A stars mass determines how the star dies.

  7. Eta Carinae • One of the most massive stars found in the solar system today is eta carinae. • Scientist predict that that eta carinae will only live one million years. • Eta carinae is highly unstable.

  8. Parts of a star • The sun is just a medium sized star. • The core is where the sun makes its energy. • The corona is the collection of gasses all around the sun.

  9. Chp. 3 Death of a Star • A star enters its final stage of life when it runs out of fuel. • A medium to small sized star becomes a red giant before death. • A large star becomes a red supergiant.

  10. Red giants • Soon the sun the sun will become a red giant and swallow the earth. • A red giant creates a planetary nebula. • Its used up all its fuel and can no longer produce nuclear fusion.

  11. White dwarfs • White dwarfs are dead stars. • The emit very little light and are hard to detect because they have no energy. • White dwarfs are so hot that they still glow.
