ADMISSIONS AT BRUNEL • Admissions Tutors in academic Schools set entry criteria • Centralised Admissions Office makes decisions based on entry criteria • All correspondence with applicants comes from Admissions Office • Offers sent out by email • Online tracking facility via portal - MyApps • Agents’ portal being planned

ADMISSIONS AT BRUNEL (contd) • Standard offers for all courses • Transparent entry criteria on course pages of the web • Offers made to all those who meet or who are likely to meet entry criteria • Invitation to visit Brunel once offer made (UG) or virtual Open Day available on web http://www.brunel.ac.uk/courses/open-days/virtual-open-day • Loyalty rewarded for UG applicants

  4. CHANGES TO BRUNEL ADMISSIONS • One centralised office dealing with all applications regardless of fee status • Same office deals with fee assessment • Larger admissions teams dealing with specific subject areas – 4 teams • Separate team dealing with course enquiries within Brunel Admissions

  5. ADVANTAGES OF CHANGES • One contact point for agents • A single process used for all applications • Equal service to all applicants • Quicker turnaround at peak periods

HOW TO APPLY • Undergraduate applications: via UCAS • Single application for up to 5 choices saves time • Official documentation sent by both UCAS and Brunel; progress can be tracked online • Postgraduate applications: online • Faster turnaround time • No errors made in transferring data • Paper application form being phased out

  7. TIMESCALES • UG applications September up to 15 January • Later applications accepted if course vacancies • PG applications accepted from October • Applications accepted up to July provided space available (or later if no visa required) • Normal turnaround time for an offer 1-2 weeks on online applications • CAS issued once all conditions of offer met

TURNAROUND TIME Affected by: • Application not being completed online • Illegible handwriting causes errors in data entry • Misplacement of paper; delay with email attachmt • Incomplete application • Transcript missing from postgraduate application • Work experience detail missing from MBA, Corporate Brand Management • References missing

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 150 UG Academic Excellence - £3,000 for 3 years • A levels, International Baccalaureate, BTEC level 3 Ext Dip • Closing date for applications 31 July (e-vision) PG Academic Excellence – 15% fee discount • First class honours degree from UK awarding university • No application required • 30 International Scholarships + 7 Alumni (UG/PGT/PGR) – 15% fee discount for year 1 • Closing date for applications 28 May (web)
