  2. Basic Facts + • Polar bears are mammals • They live for 25 years • A polar bear is 10 feet and 3 meters long • They have thick white fur • Polar bears are large (317 to 725 kilograms) • They weigh 700+ 1600 pounds

  3. Habitat Polar bears live on the ice of the Arctic coasts They use their webbed front paws to swim in the cold water

  4. Diet • Polar bears eat seals, Fish and walruses • They wait by a seal breathing hole in the ice • They attack when they spot their prey by ponding and breaking the ice

  5. Place in the food chain Polar bears are one of the top predators in the Arctic. They eat seals walruses and fish polar bears are carnivores

  6. Why is this animal endangered? • Polar bears are endangered because of global warming • The ice is melting and they can’t hunt seals • It is making the earth warmer • We can help by making signs that says do not pollute which causes global warming

Glossary • Endangered species: an animal or plant species that is in danger of becoming extinct • Mammal: a warm blooded animal; has fur./hair and gives birth to live babies • Coast: the land that is next to the sea • Webbed: toes that are connected by a web or fold of skin • Prey: an animal that is hunted by another animal for food • Carnivore: an animal that eats meat
